uShip Appoints New MD of Freight – Logistics Business Review

uShip, an online transport marketplace, has appointed Charles Myers, a 35-year veteran of the transport, freight and supply chain industry, as the new general manager of freight.

In his new role, Myers will oversee the company’s brokered loads and private network freight exchange services, both of which it recently introduced into its online spot market freight exchange.

Most recently, Myers served as director of international business development with England Logistics, a wholly owned subsidiary of C R England.

He spent six years (2002-08) as president of GetLoaded.com and Getloaded International, while at Getloaded, he served four years on the board of directors at the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA).

He is currently on the Board of the International Refrigerated Transport Association (IRTA) and will continue in that position.

uShip founder and CEO Matt Chasen said the company has spent the last six years building and refining a robust exchange for various kinds of freight focused mainly on the retail side of the shipping transaction.

“As we now expand into brokered freight and offering private network exchanges for brokers, Charles is perfectly suited to help us do this successfully,” Chasen said.

“As a consultant to uShip over the past couple months, he already had a huge influence on the strategy, development and launch of our brokered services – and as GM of Freight at uShip, his experience and insights will continue to be invaluable.”
