UK Campaign Aims to Turn White Vans Green – Energy Efficiency News (UK)

A UK-wide campaign launched today aiming to reduce the 14% of CO2 emissions arising from delivery vans.

Online transport marketplace uShip has set up the Green Transport Network to help van drivers ‘go green’ through reduced emissions, CO2 offsetting and cost-saving business practices.

According to uShip, the number of vans on the UK’s roads has grown by 38% over the last ten years to reach 3.24 million – eight times the number of registered heavy goods vehicles. But 10-15% of the time vans drive empty, producing millions of tonnes of unnecessary carbon emissions.

With support from the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) and the Prince of Wales’ Mayday Network, the website offers a carbon calculator and driving tips for saving fuel, money and emissions.
