Major LTL carriers to post rates on uShip marketplace

Three of the biggest U.S. less-than-truckload carriers will post shipper-direct spot rates on the online freight marketplace uShip, the company said Wednesday.    With the addition of Con-way Freight, Old Dominion Freight Line and YRC Freight, 28 carriers that represent more than 80 percent of the annual volume in the $32-billion U.S. LTL market, are either live or coming online to the uShip marketplace, the company said.    “By publishing their rates through uShip, LTL carriers can act a lot like airlines or hotels when it comes to pricing,” said Jim Bramlett, general manager of uShip LTL Freight. “They can now reach shipping customers directly with rates they control and dynamically adjust with market and seasonal condition…
