Ordoro Inc. and uShip Inc., two Austin-based shipping software companies, are teaming up to provide lower shipping rates to small businesses.
Ordoro is an integrated shipping and inventory management platform for small businesses. A business can manage its shopping carts and shipping accounts on Ordoro. The platform is integrated with UPS, FedEx and the U.S. Postal for shipping parcels. It also offers delivery options on Ebay, Amazon and other online marketplaces.
uShip, which has been dubbed “the eBay of shipping,” is a marketplace connecting customers looking to move larger-than-parcel-sized items with shipping companies. On the site, shippers bid for the customers’ business in an eBay-style auction that drive rates down.
This new partnership means Ordoro customers no longer have to call various shipping companies to negotiate lower rates. They can compare shipping quotes for their”less than truckload” sized parcels through uShip.
“Our customers are always looking for the best possible shipping rates no matter what they ship or where they ship to. We already bring them great commercial rates for USPS, Fedex, UPS and other carriers. With this uShip partnership we can now bring them great shipping rates on bigger parcels too. And, we are very excited about this,” Jagath Narayan, CEO and co-founder of Ordoro said in a statement.
Both companies are expected to benefit from the partnership. Narayan told the Austin Business Journal he anticipates this deal will attract new customers and increase shipping volumes. Ordero is hiring sales and support team members and programmers.
