by KXAN Staff / A handful of Austin startups and tech companies are teaming up to send help to victims of the historic floods in Louisiana.
OutboundEngine, uShip, theCHIVE, Headspring and Box have collected a 20-foot enclosed trailer full of relief supplies that will make its way to Baton Rouge and be distributed to people in need. Supplies will include things like diapers, cleaning supplies, blankets, clothing, water and even dog food. The companies have collected enough supplies to fill 35 large plastic tubs.
The donations were made possible through uShip’s Highway to Help charitable shipment program. The program finds transporters within uShip’s network that ships donations at little to no cost.
On Saturday the relief supplies were picked up at uShip’s headquarters in Austin. The truck is headed to Baton Rouge where the donations will be passed out to Louisiana locals.
