uShip Names Shawn Bose Global GM, Selects Amsterdam as European Headquarters

Global online transport marketplace uShip continues its rapid international expansion with the announcement of long-time uShip executive Shawn Bose as VP & GM, global business and Amsterdam as its European headquarters. uShip also indicated it has retained Bruno Fiorentini, Jr., former senior Yahoo! international executive, to foster the company’s business in Australia and South America.

(Vocus/PRWEB ) June 29, 2010 — uShip, the global online transport marketplace, today made three key announcements as the company continues its rapid international expansion:

Shawn Bose, Vice President & General Manager, Global Business, uShip

– Shawn Bose, long-time member of uShip’s management team, will now oversee global operations as VP & GM, global business
– Amsterdam has been selected as uShip’s European headquarters
– Bruno Fiorentini, Jr., former senior Yahoo! international executive, has been retained to foster uShip’s business in Australia and South America

Bose Goes Global
In this newly-created position, Bose is managing global strategy, business operations, site implementation, new market evaluation, and potential partnerships and acquisitions. Most recently he was VP of Product overseeing strategy and development for uShip’s marketplace platform. Bose joined uShip full-time in 2005, although was involved a year prior while attending McCombs School of Business (UT Austin). Read about Bose’s background on uShip’s executive page.

Amsterdam
With 40 percent of the EU’s freight going through Amsterdam, it is a natural choice as uShip’s European base. The city offers a strong business climate, favorable tax rules, and multilingual/multicultural workforce, while the Dutch road transport industry consists of over 7,500 companies which have collective access to a fleet of 84,000 trucks and trailers.

Fiorentini Retained
Fiorentini will help foster uShip’s existing presence in Australia and initiate presence within South America. His 11 years at Yahoo! included serving as GM of Yahoo! Brazil and Yahoo! Argentina, and COO of key partnerships in Australia and New Zealand. Visit Fiorentini’s LinkedIn profile for more background.

“Shawn knows uShip inside and out, and his longevity with the company and understanding of this business and industry make him the exact right person to lead this global effort,” said Matt Chasen, CEO and founder, uShip. “Retaining Bruno is a real coup for uShip given his global expansion experience, especially in South America.”
