NORFOLK — Thirty cats that have been turned over to shelters by people affected by the Gulf oil spill will arrive at PETA’s Norfolk headquaters, located at 501 Front Street, at 9 a.m.
PETA responded to a call from the Humane Society of Louisiana to help evacuate animals and will be working to find these animals homes in the Hampton Roadsarea. UShip, an online shipping company, is donating its services to transport the cats, many of whom are suffering from illnesses and injuries.
PETA will provide the cats with veterinary care, spay-and-neuter surgeries and flea treatment prior to adoption—all paid for by Pamela Anderson.
Residents in Virginia who are able to adopt a cat can apply at PETA.org.
